"I have passed by this café on numerous occasions. Finally, on a Sunday morning, I decided to visit this place aptly named Sunday Morning Coffee Shop. This café is owned by a half-Malaysian and half-Japanese dude, who is a photographer, a former cook, and a coffee lover. Tucked on the 2nd floor of a shophouse on Jalan Trus, the café also doubles as a small film lab. The café evokes the calm simplicity of a traditional Japanese kissaten (喫茶店). Its interior features light wood furnishings, minimal décor, and a large window that fills the space with natural light. However, I did not enjoy sitting on its custom-made wooden chairs, which I felt were uncomfortable to sit for a long period. As I already had my breakfast, I ordered a Costa Rica Jaguar Tarrazu (dark roast) to chill here. The coffee tasted fine. This is a good place to relax with its strong air-conditioning, after a hot day exploring the old town. Tips: The flight of stairs leading up to the café is steep. Exercise caution when walking up and down the stairs. The café only accepts cash and digital payments."

"A little nostalgic cafe serving Japanese food. I must say they served good hand brewed coffee! Staff were friendly. Dessert was banana brownie served with ice cream. Not too sweet, I find ."

"- Came at 2.30pm on Monday, was told that there’s no more rice (sad cause wanted the bento). - Seating area limited (15-20 pax max). - Menu choices overall quite limited in our opinion. Food is okay, udon noodles nice, curry on the sweeter side, coffee beans very strong. - Don’t accept card (only cash / QR code). - Place was aesthetically pleasant, but the wood smell still very strong especially at the window side (sensitive nose, kept sneezing). - Table had a couple of tiny ants. 4/5 because of the overall vibes~"

"easily one of the best coffee spots in JBthey serve both hand drip coffee with a wide range of food choices. I ordered the mentaiko baked rice, it was top-notch and suits to my liking, imo the flavors blended perfectly, the portion was huge, and totally worth the price. approved tried their pudding too and I love that its not too sweet or too plain and just the perfect balance, the texture was smooth it literally melts in your mouth.. the ambiance is cozy i must say, loved their playlist, staff were all friendly and helpful too. definitely coming back here next time im in JB! :)"

"Had the mentaiko baked rice — creamy, savoury goodness that hits the spot and paired it with a Japanese sparkling melon float topped with ice cream so refreshing and fun! Cute, cozy spot that I’d definitely come back to"

"After a steep and narrow flight of stairs, you find yourself in a Japanese kissaten with city pop playing in the background. We ordered drip coffee and the barista made it so meticulously. The coffee even though dark roasted wasn't overextracted or bitter. Very refreshing!"
